Bruidhen chéise in Chorainn mar leanus

[1] Selg fiadach ocus fianchoscairt do commórad le Fionn mac Cumaill mic Airt mic Thrénmóir úi Bhaeiscne le fiannaib glanáilne gaedhal fó chríochaib caemáilne in Chorainn. Ocus fá thuathaib lánmhaisecha Luighne, ocus fó chríochaib Bréifne, ocus fó ghlenntaib daingne doeolais Dalláin, ocus fó chríochaib cnuastorthacha Chairbre, ocus fó choilltib comdhaingne Chonchobair. Ocus fó magaib réide rófhairsinge Chonaille.

[2] Is ann sin do suidh Fionn mac Cumaill ina dhuma shelga i mullach chéise áirde in Chorainn. ocus níor fhan i bfochair Fhinn in tan sin acht a dhá choin .i. Bran ocus Sceolaing ocus Conán Mael mac Mórna. Ocus ba binn le Fionn in sel sin beith ac feithem is ac éistecht gotha na ngadhar ocus glaedh nglan ngrennmar na ngasradh. Luadhaile na laechradh lánlúthmar ocus tormáin na dtréinfher ocus fedgaire na féinne fá fhoraoisib fiadha fásaig na críche, gur ba chlos do na cóigcríochaib ba choimnesa dóib na gártha selga do léicetar. Innus gur cuired  76 fiada as fhásaigib, ocus míolta ar mullaigib, ocus sionnaig ar sechrán, ocus bruic as bhroclasaib, ocus éin ar eitiollaig, ocus do léicedh gach cú fhergach fhírneimnech dá h-éill fá'n tulaig fá'n am sin.

[3] Cid tra acht is é triath do bí ar chéis in Chorainn in tan sin .i. Conarán mac Imideil taeisech do Thuaith Dé Danann. Ocus mar do chualaid sestán sechránach ar na conaib adubairt rena thrí ingenaib gránda [is iat] lán do dhraeidecht dul do dhígail in fhiadaig ar Fhionn in rígfhéinnid. Do chuatar na h-ingena co dorus na h-uama do bí ar in tulaig ocus do shuidetar i bfochair a chéile. Ocus do chuiretar trí h-iarnadha geinntlide gesrógacha ar trí cuaillib fiarchama chuillinn ocus do bádar acá dtochardad ar tuathal i ndorus na h-uamha. Ní cian dóib amlaid sin in tan táinic Fionn ocus Conán ar ur na h-uama co bfacatar na trí caillecha róghránda ina suide ac in obair sin i ndorus na h-uama. A dtrí fuilt fhíorgarba forscaeilte forru. A sé súile siltecha caeirdherga leo. A dtrí beoil duba drochchuma. Ocus fiacla fírghéra  p.307 fírneimnecha fóchama i gcarbaid gach drochmná díob, ocus a dtrí muinéil chnámaltacha ac congbáil a gcenn ar na laechchaillechaib sin,  76b a sé láma lánfhada leo, ocus ba shamail re h-adairc buinremair barrchaeil buabail cach ionga fhíorgránda fherchonta bhí ar cach mér díob. Ocus sé cosa fóchama foltchlúmacha caeilméracha fútha, ocus trí coigéla cruaidghéra ina lámaib leo.

[4] Do chuaid Fionn ocus Conán triasna h-iarnada d'féchain na gcaillech. Ocus táinic crith in bháis forru cor chaillset a nert i gcétóir ocus cor cenglad co daingen doscaeilte iat leisna caillcchaib calma sin. Táinic dias eile do'n fhéinn ocus clann Nemhnainn maraen riu. Ocus tiagait triasna h-iarnada mar a raibe Fionn ocus Conán ocus do chaillset a mbríg ocus do cenglad i gcuibrech chruaid leisna caillechaib cétna iat. Ocus d'iomchratar na curada leo isin uamaidh istech as a aithle.

[5] Nír chian dóib in tan sin co dtáinic Oscar ocus mac Lugach do láthair ocus maithe ocus móruaisle chlann mBaeiscne leo. Táncatar clanna Mórna fós do láthair. Ocus ar bfaicsin na n-iarnad nír fhan nert mná seolta i n-aen díob. Táncatar clanna Chorcráin do láthair, ocus ó't-chonncatar na h-iarnada do chuaid a ngoil ocus a ngaisced ar gcúl mar in  77 gcétna, acht chena do cenglad clanna Smóil ocus in fhiann uile ítir ísel is uasal, co rucatar na caillecha leo iat ina gcimedaib crepailte cruadchuibrighte i bpollaib duib-dhiamra ocus i ndroibhelaib dorcha doeolais.

[6] Cid tra acht do b'iomda glám chon i ndorus na h-uama ac iarraid a dtriath is a dtigernad tar éis a nimthechta ocus a n-aistir. ocus do b'imda fiadh créchtach cnáimgerrtha ocus muc allta arna mbuanmharbad, ocus bruic beoraebtha ocus míolta mongruada muige arna móirbhreogad ar thaeb na tulcha ar gcengal na druinge do bí acá n-iomchar conice sin.

[7] Is ann sin táncatar na mná móra míleta merchalma sin dochum na h-áite i rrabatar in fhiann cengailte ocus trí cloidhme cruada claislethna ina lámaib leo. Ocus d'féchatar uatha ar cach taeb d'fios a bfaicfidís aenfer ná taistelach slige d'fiannaib Eirenn co dtiubrataeis bás ocus buanoidhed dóib. Ocus ó nach bfuaratar sin do b'áil leo dul istech sin mbruidin do choscairt ocus do chnáimgherrad na féinne can choigilt.

[8] Nír chian dóib amlaid sin co bfacatar in t-aenóclaech mór míleta merchalma déitghel  77b degcherdach chucu. Ocus do b'é sin  p.308 in leoman lúthmar láinfergach ocus in confadh catha ocus in lóchrann loinnerdha lá na h-íorghaile .i. Goll móirmhenmnach mac Mórna mic Chormaic mic Maghtain mic Gharaid ghlúnduib mic Aeda dhuanaig míc Aeda chinn chlaire mic Chonaill mic Shaidbe mic Cheit mic Mágach mic Chairbre ríg Chonnacht. Caemóg chruadchomlannach ocus Cuillenn chennruad. Co nderna sé oirdnecha certchomtroma commóra díob do'n aeinbhéim sin. [9] Is ann sin d'iad sinnser chloinne Chonaráin a lám i dtimchioll Ghuill do leith a dhroma .i. Iaran ní Chonaráin an fedh do bí sé ac díchennad na déise eile. Iompaigios Goll fria dá h-aimdheoin ocus iadus a dhá láim lebhra lánfhada ina timchiollsa. Co dtucatar coraigecht cróda glacláidir boirbnertmar dá chéile re h-edh na h-uaire sin. [10] Is ann sin scaeilios in rígmhílid do'n chaillig ocus téit rompu as a aithle cusin gcnoc i rrabatar  78b in fiann cengailte cruadchuibrigte ocus Fionn maraen riu. Co ndubairt Goll: scaeilter d'Fergus fhinnbeoil ocus do aes eladan na féinne ar dtús. Ocus  p.309 scaeilter d'Fionn ocus d'Oisín ocus do naei macaib fichet Mórna ocus do'n fhéinn co coitchenn ó shoin immach. Do scaeil in chaillech díob amlaid sin. D'éirgetar in fhiann co h-obann immach as in uaim iar sin ocus do shuidetar re taeb na tulcha. Do fhéch Fergus finnbheoil file na bfiann ar Gholl ocus do gab dá admolad fó'n ngníom dorigne.

[11] Nír chian dóib mar sin co bfacatar chucu in dúil duaibsech doidelbach ocus in tarrachtach éigciallaide .i. senchaillech chnapach chuislennchruaid rengach ocus co n-anfadh mionabhall nó móráirne ar cach ruibe do na mailghib garba glaisliatha do bí uirri. Súile siltecha ar lasad ina cenn. Srón mór ghorm ghlaislethan ós ur a sreingbheoil duib duaibsig dhroichdelbaig. Ocus gairbegar gránda d'fiaclaib coganta ina craeisbhél. Láma caela cruadchuislennacha ocus iongain fada ferchonta fírneimnecha fuirre. Éidedh daingen doibhriste uimpi. Cloidem claislethan coilgdírech rena sliasait, ocus sciath mór míleta ós áird a droma.  79

[12] Táinic sí i bfiadnaise Fhinn fó'n gcuma sin ocus do chuir fó ghesaib é fána sáith do chomrac aeinfir do thabairt di. Adubairt Fionn re h-Oisín: “Éirig a mic,” ar sé, “ocus cosc dúinn in tarracht caillige úd.” “Ní fétaim,” ar Oisín, “tar éis a bfuaras d'olc ocus do maslugad ó na caillechaib chena.” Ocus is í so Iarnan ní Chonaráin ac tiacht do díogail a sethrach. Ocus is amlaid do diult Oisín ocus Oscar, ocus Conán, ocus mac Lugach, ocus Diarmait ó Duibne, ocus Caeilte mac Rónáin, ocus Cairell, ocus maithe na féinne [olchena] comrac na caillige do dénum. Co ndubairt Fionn co rachadh féin do chomrac ria. Is ann sin adubairt Goll mac Morna: “A Fhinn,” ar sé, “ní cubaid duit comrac caillige. Ocus rachadsa do chomrac ria óir is ann derbtar in cara in uair as mó in téicen.”

[13] Is ann sin d'éirig Goll co grodúrlam i gcomdáil na caillige. Ocus dorigne comrac mer menmnach míleta mórdálach ocus gleo díscir dásachtach can fios time ná tláis ac cechtar díob ar a chéile. Cid tra acht chuirios Goll a lám i gcuibrech a scéithe ocus tuc a cholg neimnech immach. Co dtuc rot n-urchair di gan chaime gan chlaenad gur chuir tré [chobrad a] scéithe  79b ocus tré chroide na caillige do'n taeb thall é. Is amlaid torchair an chaillech ar in láthair sin.

[14] Do chuaid Goll iar sin co Céis in Chorainn iar marbad thrír  p.310 ingen gConaráin mic Imideil. Ocus dorigne doighir doinnderg lasrach do'n bhruidin ocus tuc na h-uile mhaithesa fuair innti d'fiannaib Eirenn. Tuc Fionn iar sin a ingen féin do Gholl .i. Caem Chneisghel. Ocus is í ruc in mac oirderc do .i. Fed mac Guill mic Mórna. Ocus do marbad leisin bféinn é i gcionn a shecht mbliadan n-déc ar in ráith chétna.
