Donnchadh Mór Ó Dálaigh
Whole text
- Do-ní duine Dia dá mhaoin;
ní fhuil ann acht dia díomhaoin
tar Mhac Dé na n-uile fhear;
ní duine an té nach tuigfeadh. - Dia dá mhaoin is mairg do-ní;
cealg im Dhia nír bh'fhiu aoinní;
Mac Dé bhí le hóigh gan fhior
do b'é an rí dar cóir creideamh. - Creideadh gach duine dá dhia féin;
creidim-se d'oidhre an Fhíréin,
Mac Dé dar mháthair Muire
bráthair na sé sochuidhe. - Eagail dóibh dá ndeachaidh so
i n-éadóchas ar Íosa
gach neach daidhbhir dá mbí ar bioth
nó gach rí saidhbhir sáitheach. - Guais don dís a-deirim féin
go mbeid is Íosa aimhréidh,
díol toile don té ghá mbí
's gidh bé nach oighe aoinní. - Ní háil le neach saidhbhir slán
Mac Dé d'fhaicsin ná d'iomrádh;
Rí na n-uile is na n-ógh ris
is lón do dhuine an daidhbhris. - Muire 's a Mac maille ris
bíd aige i n-íoc a dhaidhbhris;
fearr sin ná saidhbhreas eile
daidhbhreas fhir na haithrighe. - Duine do-gheibh lán a lámh
eagail dó dul ar seachrán;
is í an lámh fhalamh as fhearr
ler bh'ál anadh ó Ifearnn. - Cuid na gcomhursan—cúis trom—
biaidh dá hagra ar an anam;
biaidh an chalann 'n-a crumhaibh
's an t-anam ag osnadhaigh. p.65 - A-tá an corp dá chur i gcéill
go bhfuil 's an t-anam aimhréidh;
tarla fíoch éigin orra
síoth nach éidir eatorra. - Ná tréig neamh ar ní nach lat;
ní leat féin a bhfuil agat;
bíodh th'aire ar a n-abair sinn;
caidhe agaibh acht aislinn? - Gearr mhaireas mláth na
hóige,
ná tréig teach na Tríonóide;
grás Muire ní théid i dtráigh,
ná tréig ar dhuille an domhnáin. - A dhuine chreideas dá chrodh
nó do dhia eile d'adhradh,
ní leat an teagh thall go bráth,
's ní headh an chlann ná an conách. - Ní leat an t-airgead 's an t-ór,
ní leat an ríghtheach romhór,
ní leat do chéile chubhuidh,
's ní leat féine a bhfuarobhair. - Tuigthear libh nach libh na ba,
ní libh an t-ionnmhus iomdha,
ní leat 's ní lat an ghraigh,
ní leat an mac ná a mháthair. - Ní leat an baile 'n-a mbí,
ní leat an fonn i bhfuiltí,
ní leat an brat i mbí an corp,
do-chí nach lat an lubhghort. - A fhir shanntaigh ar a shon,
ar thiomsuigh tú san tsaoghal,
ní mó ná an brá lín as libh
no má tá brígh sa bhrait-sin. - Dá mbeinn ag seanmóir mar sin
daoibh go deireadh an domhain
ní fiu an corp a léigir leis,
ní héidir a olc d'aithris. - Seachain mé ar gach olc eile
rem ré, a Mheic na maighdeine;
seachain mo ghnúis ar bhaos ban,
ar chraos, ar dhrúis do dhéanamh. p.66 - A Mheic Mhuire, seachain sinn
ar theas is ar fhuacht Ifrinn;
seachain mé ar cheilg óm chridhe,
's rem ré ar fheirg gan aithrighe. - Nír thuill tu-sa—ní tú a-
mháin—
grás Dé let óige d'fhagháil;
grás na maighdine sir so
a fhir aingidhe aosdo.
