    Teine ar n-a fadágh fearg Dé

     p.

    Philip Bocht Ó hUiginn cct?

  1. Teine ar n-a fadágh fearg Dé;
    tearc dínn nach daorfadh fínné;
    ní as sia nar fhaduigh i-se
    cia nach faduigh fúithei-se.
  2. Smál ar an dteine ní théid;
    caidhe lasair a leithéid,
    gríos as teo iná gach teine
    bhíos beo agus do báidhfide?
  3. Tairgeam síoth ar son ar gcean,
    mithidh turnamh na teineadh;
    a chlann Éabha, a fhuigheall áir,
    cuiream séala ar an síothcháin.
  4. A-tá mar ghrís a gabháil;
    ní hurusa a hiongabháil
    fearg ag Dia ris gach nduine:
    a fhearg cia ren cosmhaile?
  5.  p.173
  6. Ris budh cosmhail ar gcabhair
    m'aonghrádh do na heasbalaibh;
    sían té do bhí agus bhias
    go dtí dhíom é agus d'Aindrias.
  7. Go gcurthar a-nuas do nimh
    le guaillidhe Dé dhúiligh
    ní as a dturnfadh an teine
    im chlí d'urchar aithrighe.
  8. Muna thurna Dia na ndúl
    an teine táthar d'fhadúdh
    is é ar nDia eile an t-easbal;
    cia an teine nach toirnfeadh-san?
  9. Ag cur m'éagcóra im aighidh,
    dom agra an tráth tiocfaidhir,
    gá tarbha don bhreitheamh bhias
    is feitheamh m'anma ar Aindrias?
  10. A-tá mo bhiodhbha dom brath;
    dlighim cobhair óm chomthach;
    a samhail roimhe do rad
    do chabhair oile an t-easbag.
  11. Easbog do bhí eacht eile
    i seilbh Aindrias d'áiridhe;
    caraidh é tar gach n-asbal
    's é mar raghain rugasdar.
  12. Lá dá bhfacaidh inghin óig
    chuige—níor chian ó urchóid—
    do-chí gné an aisdir uirthe;
    caisgidh é dá urnuighthe.
  13. Do bhun an ghrádha thruim thug
    do-chuaidh—más fhíor—ón easbug
    nó go dtoirneadh a dhearc dí
    searc a Coimdheadh gan chuimhne.
  14. "Beag an fáth fa bhfaghthar guth"
    a céadfhocal re a comthach
    "ná leagar san teach i dtám
    neach budh eagal dar n-iomrádh."
  15. "A-tá fear ag nach fuil treoir
    san dorus" ar an doirseoir
    "do shir mar aisgidh oram
    sibh d'fhaigsin gan uraghall."
  16.  p.174
  17. "Leig an tí tháinig i bhfad
    im fhiadhnaise" ar an t-easbag,
    "'s é re calaidh ná congaibh;
    tabhair é dom agallaimh."
  18. Do ráidh an bhean do bhí as-taigh:
    "ní thiocfa an tí taoi d'iarraidh
    gan thomhus do thuigse
    tar dorus an dúnaidh-se."
  19. Trí ceasda do chuir a-mach
    gearr gur fhuasgail an t-eolach;
    do b'é bun na dtrí dtomhus
    sí do chur ó chomhshonus.
  20. Tug an t-easbog aithne ghrinn,
    gabhais a éideadh Aifrinn,
    do thoguibh crois Dé na ndúl,
    a ghné re a cois ar gclaochlúdh.
  21. Leis an gcléireach do canadh:
    "Créad t'adhbhar dom fhiosrughadh?
    a héideadh Dé sul dheachar
    budh éigean é d'fhoillseachadh."
  22. Is é comhrádh do chain-se
    "Ní anfuinn it fhochair-se
    achd i ngné díoghbhála dhuid;
    is mé t'fhíornámha, a easbuig.
  23. "Ní fhúigfinn thú—truagh an bheart"
    ar an inghean ag imtheacht
    "go beith do neamhthoil Dé dhuid."
    ní seachmhaidh an té thánaig.
  24. Teithis an bhean—borb an smacht—
    téid an t-easbog i n-umhlacht;
    an té do dhealaigh an dias
    meabhair gurab é Aindrias.
  25. Ní fhéadaim foghlaidh Dé dhíom;
    fóirfidh Aindrias ar n-imshníomh;
    a-tám i n-éigin aibhse
    dál an chéidfhir chumainn-se.
  26. Mac mo sheathar dom sheoladh
    is amhlaidh do fhoigheonadh,
    nó a fhear grádha ag labhra linn
    is námha m'anma ar mh'uillinn.
  27.  p.175
  28. An céadlá do-chonnairc riamh
    Mac Muire—mór an rimhiadh—
    páirt a-raon do-róine an dias,
    laogh na hóighe agus Aindrias.
  29. Cíos ar cathrachaibh iomdha
    do thaibhgheadh dá thighearna;

    ní seachmhaidh d' osa a óglách.
  30. Aon do laithibh dar leig soin
    do síoladh creidimh i gcathraigh
    fuair ag cobhair na cathrach
    folaidh mar budh fógarthach.

    caithidh umhlacht, a easbail,
    re n-oidhche" ar ceann na cathrach
    "dá mbeam choidhche connarthach.
  32. "A nabruim is amhlaidh bhias;
    an Dia dá n-adhrann Aindrias
    rachaidh 'n-a shéana ó sho a-mach
    nó no ní mhéara a-márach."
  33. Innsis gurab olc an bhreath,
    dá n-ana ar an iul dhíreach,
    creideamh achd don té do thogh;
    is nír creideadh é ón easbol.
  34. Re hAindrias dá haithle sin
    do b'é a-rís rádha an chéidfhir:
    "Ag sin fad chomhair an chroch,
    sir cobhair ar do chodhnach."
  35. "An lá do fhuair a oigheadh
    Dia tar ceann na gCríosdoidheadh
    is í an phian-sa pian do thogh,
    mo mhian-sa í" ar an t-easbol.
  36. Ní thug an t-asbal dá óidh
    a bhroid achd bheith ag seanmóir,

    gér bh'iomdha ag tocht 'n-a thiomchall.
  37. 'N-a mharcach ar a muin-se

  38.  p.176
  39. I dtimcheall an chroinn chéasda
    —do chách ciodh nach aithréasda?—
    tig doighear gheal mar an ngréin
    seal re n-oigheadh an fhíréan.
  40. Tig éanlaith d'ainglibh nimhe

    lasair fhionn leis an éanlaith.
  41. Do folchadh an chroch ar chách
    re bucht an bháis—beart neamhghnáth—
    dar fhás do dhonnloise dhí
    gur chás urmhoise uirre.
  42. Más fhíor dá imtheachtaibh féin,
    do-chuaidh an t-anam ainn-séin
    go port Dé leis an dealradh
    sé is an corp ar gceileabhradh.
  43. An fear is na fearta so
