- Deacair suan ar chneidh gcarad:
gar d'airdheanaibh easgarad
an t-aos comtha nach geabh gráin
re horchra gcneadh a gcompáin. - Gidh bé uaibh do fhéadfadh soin
codladh ar chneadh a chomthaigh
d'aos chomtha ní croidhe glan
gan orchra ar-oile d'iomchar. - Aos comtha an chumainn dearbhtha,
coitcheann cúis a mbuaidheartha,
ionann orchra, ionann ceas
ortha agus ionann áineas. - Mar sin damhsa, diochra an léan,
fat' orchra a inghean Uáitéar
neimh na cneidhe rod chreimse
'na cneidh eile ar m'intinnse. - Bíth h'osnadh do dhruim dheacra
ag clódh chéadfadh mh'éisdeachta;
bíth do dheór, a chnú chridhe,
ag deól chrú as ar gcridhine. - Dá gcoisginn cion mo thuirse
sunna dhíot dod dhoghuilse,
ar ndoigh ní budh dimbríogh linn,
ná a bhfoil d'imshníomh ar mh'intinn. - Ní fhuil, tar a n-abraim ribh,
do chumha mar chúis t'imnidh;
adhbhal truime do thuirse,
uille a hadhbhar agaibhse. - Rugadh uaid, dia do dhoghra,
do mhac, oighre th'athardha,
do chosg bróin, th'aondalta ar n-éag,
do ghlóir shaoghalta, a Shinéad. p.144 - Oighre Sgríne na sgoth nglas,
brath Dealbhna na ndionn solas
glún uaislighthe an fhine ó bhfuil,
cridhe an ghuaisbheithre i ngalaibh. - Bláth ógán Innse na bhFionn,
foithne Rois, Risdeard Nuinnsionn,
draig roighreanta, beithir borb,
feithimh móirshleachta Marbhord. - Saor an sgoth do sgar ruibhse,
ní hiongnadh t'fháth doghuilse:
ba triall raith, ba gaoth i ngal,
ba laoch, ba flaith, ba feallsamh. - Níor chlannaigh fa choim na neamh
ní nach fuair fios a airrdhean,
re hais gcearcaill na cruinne,
ná a seantruim thais talmhaidhe. - Do thiomchuil, turas bladhach,
ciorcla na gcorp n-uachtarach,
an dá pholas tuaidh is teas,
a bhforas fhuair gan aincheas. - Gidh eadh trá, dá dhoilghe dhuit,
má taoi ar an tí ros tiodhluic,
a ndeaghaidh na dtairtheadh tug,
dleaghair a aithbhear orad. - Dia athar —ga huaisle ceard?
dó féin do-rinne Risdeard:
ní huaibhse rug an nglaic ngloin,
is ní dait tug ó thosoigh. p.145 - Dorus beathadh bás an fhir,
ní cúis imshníomha a oighidh:
cia an neach a gcás budh cuirthe,
dá ndeach le bás mbeannaighthe? - Glan budh-easd th'aghaidh dtuirsigh,
tiormaigh do ghruaidh ngrianluisnigh,
an doigh do-chuaidh ad chridhe,
ad-roigh uaibh ar mh'impidhe.
