Laoiseach Mac an Bhaird
Edited by Thomas F. O'Rahilly
Whole text
- p.14
- Tuirseach sin, a mhacaoimh mná!
do bheith dubhach níor ghnáth leat;
a los h'innmhe i measg do ghaoil,
's iongnadh liom do mhaoith, a bhean. - Gibé heile is damhna dhuit,
ní mheasaim go bhfuil ar h'óidh
éinneach romhad dá bhfuair bás;
nocha dtuigim fáth do bhróin. - H'osna luath, do labhairt mhall, —
is cosmhail ribhse, a bharr síodh,
gur imthigh ní éigin ort, —
ag sin do chruth ar ndol díot. p.15 - Do-chím gur chlaochló a niamh, —
an ghruaidh thibhreach, an chiabh thiogh,
an troigh réidh, an bhrágha bhán;
cosmhail go dtugais grádh d'fhior. - Fear ar talmhain dár char tú
ná ceil orm, a chúl na sreabh;
ná fulaing níos foide i bpéin,
dá madh mise féin an fear. - Cead suirghe do-gheabhthá uam,
a bhéal tana ar snuadh na subh:
do thuigfinn do bheith i bpéin, —
do bhí mise féin id chruth. - An grádh baoth-sin tugais damh
dá bhfeasainn ort, a bhas shlim,
san mbruid sin ní léigfinn tú;
truagh nár léigis do rún rinn. - Má tá go dtugais grádh dhamh,
fá a chur chugam ná gabh sgáth;
beag dhligheas an náire dhíot;
aithne dhamh mar bhíos an grádh. - Caith oram, a urla fiar,
badh leat gach ní i mbia do chuid;
mo bhréagadh red bhruinne bhán
ca fios nách bhfuil i ndán duit? - Tar ghuidhe mná is docair dul;
bí dom aslach, a chruth fial,
gan fios nách dtiucfadh an uair
ina bhfuightheá uaim do mhian. p.16 - Ní beag dhuit ar léigis thort,
tréig h'aithmhéala, nocht do rún,
druid anall, ná bí mar soin,
féach an cruth-soin i bhfoil tú!
