saoth liom gan t'aineamh orainn;
do b'fhearr tocht fám radharc ruinn;

bheith slán dá héis ní iarrabh;
mairg dár cinneadh, a Dhé dhil,
silleadh an té rom-theimhligh. - Tárfás damh, ní dheachaidh leam,
inghean ro b'iongnadh inneall;
troigh sheangfhaobhrach do mhear mé,
gearrshaoghlach fear a feithmhe! - Ní i ndóigh nách muirfeadh mé, —
truagh nách tig aoinfheacht oile
