  1. Aoibhinn duit, a dhuine dhoill!
    saoth liom gan t'aineamh orainn;
    do b'fhearr tocht fám radharc ruinn;
    socht óm amharc ní fhaghaim.
  2. Dá n-iarrainn, níor-bh'fheirrde dhamh, —
    bheith slán dá héis ní iarrabh;
    mairg dár cinneadh, a Dhé dhil,
    silleadh an té rom-theimhligh.
  3. Tárfás damh, ní dheachaidh leam,
    inghean ro b'iongnadh inneall;
    troigh sheangfhaobhrach do mhear mé,
    gearrshaoghlach fear a feithmhe!
  4. Ní i ndóigh nách muirfeadh mé, —
    truagh nách tig aoinfheacht oile
    (ní do tharbha dhí ná dhamh)
    ón adhbha i mbí do bhunadh.
