mise is ise i n-éanchaithir
gan cead amhairc a gruadh ngeal
ná (a) radhairc uam ós iseal. - Ní raibh ar breith dhi ná dhamh
labhairt re chéile i gcogar
gan cách oile d'aithne ar locht,
ná aighthe ar-oile d'amharc. - Ní fhéadmaois dá heagla féin
dul i ngar dá gnúis shoiléir;
gion go bhféadmais teacht don tigh,
teacht 'na héagmhais níor-bh'fhéidir. - Do bhí d'iomad na hannsa,
's do bhí d'uamhan oramsa,
mo chóig céadfadha do cheilt
don bhéaltana óig oirdheirc. - Níor léig sí gáire ná gul
ná colladh dhamh ná dúsgadh;
socht ná labhradh níor lamhas;
bocht amhghar an t-amharas. - Mo mhallacht lé! níor léig damh
tógbháil mo chinn ná a chromadh,
rún mo chroidhe dá cneas seang,
