mo bheart is dá héis do-chím;
ní fhionnfa neach fir ná mná
mo rún féin go bráth a-rís. - A bhean chumainn, a chruth fial,
do bhí agam riamh i ngioll,
(mairg léigeas a rún le mnaoi!)
fuaire a chách a-taoi fám chionn. - Oram féin do fríth an locht, —
ní beag nod dá chur i gcéill;
tig an cumann druim-tar-ais,
buailtear duine dá shlait féin. - Ní thiubhrthá orlach ar ór
díom, a inghean is óg snuadh;
ciodh gearr ó 'niugh gus i-né,
do bhuaidhir mé an t-uisge suas. - Méad na toile tugais dúinn
mairg dár gealladh, a ghnúis nár,
umam féin ó 'taoi go fuar;
