Above the panel with the curves is a close up of the third panel of the West face of the cross which contains a figural representation. It depicts the presentation of the John the Baptist in the Temple. The central figure holds a child in (her?) arms and is flanked by a figure either side. The uppermost panel W4 depicts the Baptism of Jesus. Christ stands in the centre, he seems to be turning towards the figure of St. John the Baptist on the right. The waters of the Jordan flow between the feet of the two figures. |
