Location Originally stood west from the small chapel known as 'St.Columba's Shrine' and north-west from the west door of the abbey church.

Dimensions cross is now 5.3 m high, width tapers from 0.54 m at the bottom to 0.48 m at the top, and thickness from 0.26 m to 0.22 m.
GeneralDescription West view of large, ringed, decorated cross.
GeneralDescription The West face of the shaft is divided into four panels. The lowest has bosses and voluted trumpet-spirals. The next has a diagonal grid of serpent's bodies with various types of heads. The third panel has bossed spirals, with animal designs and voluted trumpet-spirals. The top panel has serpent and boss ornament.
GeneralDescription The Cross head has a circular recess, and curvilinear design with voluted trumpet-spirals.
