GeneralContext Stone type: Coarse-grained, massive yellow sandstone.
Dimensions 39.4cm (15.5'') in height, 29.8cm to 27.9cm (11.25'' to 11'') in width, and 20.3cm to 19.1cm (8'' to 7.5'') in depth.
GeneralDescription Upper part of Cross Shaft, dated to late tenth century to early eleventh century.
GeneralDescription The faces are surrounded by thick double roll mouldings.
GeneralDescription At the top of the wider face there is a composite moulding. This is made up of pellets, roll, and rough cable. Below this there is a frontal figure standing under a single arch. He is holding a book against his chest. There may be a bird on his right shoulder.
GeneralDescription There is a triple roll moulding at the top of the narrower face. The panel consists of three pairs of Stafford knots.
