I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology from the Royal College of Surgeons and a Master of Research (M.Res) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Ulster, and have placed an emphasis on the clinical applicability of my research. Having held appointments at the Irish Medicines Board (IMB), INSERM U143 and INSERM U765, and CRVB (Centre for Research in Vascular Biology, UCC).  I have strong interests in vascular biology and in particular, interactions at the blood cells/vessel wall interface.  I have also delivered specific programmes of research focusing on stem cell differentiation, dynamic interactions between platelets, circulating myeloid progenitor cells and tissue remodeling. Latterly, I have developed an interest in biomaterials related research, in particular, controlled drug release from biodegradable polymers and the use of novel cell devices to promote therapeutic angiogenesis  in vivo.
