As a graduate student of University College Cork, my research strategy was to obtain initially a postgraduate degree at Masters level, then to pursue a doctoral qualification, which was subsequently conferred in 2001.  Following my conferring my aim was to publish a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals, while continuing to engage in research suggested by the dissertation.  My main research interest lies in the area of securities markets and security issuance (corporate financing decisions), and I have had some success in publishing in this area, together with supervising masters research students with projects that are consistent with this research theme and also engaging in joint research projects with colleagues from the department.  I have also aimed to present at least once annually at an international finance or financial management research conference.
