Michael Ward

Biography

Michael Ward is Professor of Food Business and Development (Co-operative Organisation) and researcher in the Centre for Co-operative Studies (currently on sabbatical leave).

Michael’s teaching and research interests are primarily in the area of co-operative business, organisation theory and management.

Currently, Michael is a member of the Plunkett Ireland Taskforce. This taskforce was set up by the UK-based Plunkett Foundation in 2014 to support its work in developing and funding co-operative initiatives in the Republic of Ireland. 

Research Interests

All aspects of Co-operative Business: Agricultural and Rural Co-operatives, Community and Workers Co-operatives and Credit Co-operatives.

My work is located in the fields of organisation theory and management. I am actively engaged in productive research and publication in three main areas of co-operative activity: agricultural & rural co-operatives, community & workers' co-operatives and credit co-operatives. Each area is represented in recent journal publications.
