Jonathan McCarthy is a PhD candidate at the Law Department and is the holder of an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship. His PhD thesis is an empirically-based analysis of the position of small and medium-sized enterprises in Irish corporate insolvency law. The research supervisor is Dr. Mary Donnelly. Jonathan's research interests are primarily in topics of corporate, commercial and financial law.

Jonathan has graduated with BCL and LLM (First Class Honours) degrees from UCC and has been an awardee of the Ronan Daly Jermyn Scholarship to fund research on issues of business law.
