Ó thaobh taighde de, tá suim aici san ainmeolaíocht, litríocht na Sean- agus na Meán-Ghaeilge agus i bhfilíocht na scol. **************************************************************************************************************************************** Emma Nic Cárthaigh is a lecturer in the Department of Early and Medieval Irish at University College Cork. She has worked with the Locus Project (http://www.ucc.ie/locus/) since 2003 and with the De Finibus Project (http://definibus.ucc.ie/) since 2009, both of which were funded by the IRC(HSS) between 2003 and 2009. She was a lecturer in Irish language and literature at the University of Limerick from 2012 to 2015. Her research interests include onomastics, medieval Irish literature and bardic poetry.

Research Interests

An phríomhthaighde a bhíonn ar bun ag Emma ná fascúil de Foclóir stairiúil áitainmneacha na Gaeilge / Historical dictionary of Gaelic placenames a chóiriú i dteannta bhord eagarthóireachta an tionscnaimh Locus; tráchtaireachtaí ar ainmeolaíocht na hÉireann; téacsaí Sean- agus Meán-Ghaeilge a chur in eagar i dteannta le haistriú agus tráchtaireacht; filíocht na scol a chur in eagar i dteannta le haistriú agus tráchtaireacht; plé a dhéanamh ar aistriúcháin Laidine ar fhilíocht na Sean-Ghaeilge; agus plé a dhéanamh ar radhairc Chríostaí ar neamh, ifreann agus an saol eile sna meánaoiseanna in Éirinn.

Emma's primary research interests include contributions to Foclóir stairiúil áitainmneacha na Gaeilge / Historical dictionary of Gaelic placenames (a Locus Project publication); commentary on Irish onomastics; edition and translation with commentary of medieval Irish prose texts; edition and translation with commentary of classical modern Irish (or bardic) poetry; studies on early modern Latin translations of medieval Irish poetry; and Christian representations of heaven, hell and the afterlife in medieval Ireland.
