Research Profile

Robert King

Biography

I am an early career researcher with interests in biological psychology, behavioral ecology, and philosophy of mind. I have published and consulted in areas pertaining to human sexual behavior and regularly review for Journal of Sexual Medicine, Archives of Sexual Behavior and Journal of Evolutionary Psychology.
I completed my PhD with Jay Belsky, studying fertility-related aspects of female sexual response--work which I am continuing. A book is in production for Cambridge University Press and due out next year
Recently, I have started to research aspects of forensic psychology using a life history theory framework.

Research Interests

My research concerns using a biological framework to investigate human behavior. My active research interests at the moment include: Examining the recent UK riots using behavioral ecology/life history theory, investigating fertility-related aspects of human female sexual response, and investigating aspects of human dating preferences from a biological standpoint. I have lately started to integrate anthropological research into my profile with three publications on what ice age art and myths can inform us about sexual behavior.I am also in the process of completing a line of research into rampage (spree) killers using a behavioral ecology perspective.
