Elaine previously worked with Dr. Kenneth Burns, Dr. Fiachra Ó Suilleabháin and Olwen Halvey on a study of social media abuse and harassment in social work. Elaine also worked with Professor O'Mahony and Dr. Burns on the IDEA Project, a five country child protection project (Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Hungary and Estonia), co-funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the European Union.
Elaine has contributed to research funded by the Department of Justice, the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, the Academy of European Law, the Committee for Judicial Studies, the Public Interest Law Alliance and the National Academy for Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning. Elaine has a Certificate in Mediation, awarded by the Mediators' Institute of Ireland.
Biography
Dr. Elaine O'Callaghan (BCLG, PhD) works as a Research Support Officer on the ID+ Project at UCC. Prior to this, Elaine worked with Professor Conor O'Mahony in his role as the Irish Government appointed Special Rapporteur on Child Protection, contributing to multiple reports including Proposals for a State Response to Illegal Birth Registrations in Ireland (2021), A Review of Children's Rights and Best Interests in the Context of Donor-Assisted Human Reproduction and Surrogacy in Irish Law (2020) as well as three Annual Reports of the Special Rapporteur on Child Protection (2020, 2021 and 2022). Elaine has also contributed to submissions to the Child Maintenance Review Group and the Family Justice Oversight Group, as well as Submissions on the General Scheme of the Family Court Bill 2020 and the General Scheme of the Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill.Elaine previously worked with Dr. Kenneth Burns, Dr. Fiachra Ó Suilleabháin and Olwen Halvey on a study of social media abuse and harassment in social work.
