Biography

Is léachtóir í Hilary i Scoil an Oideachais, Coláiste na hOllscoile Corcaigh. Thosaigh Hilary ag obair mar theagascóir ar an gclár BEDSSPE sa bhliain 2019, ag díriú ar theagasc na Gaeilge agus socrúchán scoile. Anois, tá ról Hilary dírithe ar shocrúchán scoile (BEd Gaeilge agus BSc Education) mar aon le sealbhú teanga, an fhoghlaim dhigiteach agus oideolaíocht chomhaimseartha. Sular thosaigh Hilary ag obair i gColáiste na hOllscoile Corcaigh, chaith sí deich mbliana ag múineadh na Gaeilge in iar-bhunscoil DEIS. Sa bhliain 2022, bhronn An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscolaíochta (COGG) sparánacht taighde ar Hilary chun tabhairt faoi thaighde PhD ar leanúnachas an tumoideachais sa tréimhse iar-phaindéime. Tá a cuid taighde go dtí seo bunaithe ar an aistriú ón mbunscoil go dtí an iar-bhunscoil.

Research Interests

Hilary's research interests include the transition from primary to post-primary education, learner voice, immersion education, specifically late immersion and leadership roles within the sector, language teacher identity and self-awareness, the role of the placement school in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and peer observation as a tool for school improvement.

Teaching Activities

Teaching Interests

Hilary's teaching interests include language acquisition, particularly in late immersion learners. Hilary also focuses on learner self-awareness and language awareness, using digital technology to improve language learning, and reflective practice.
