Thomas Delahunty

Biography

Dr. Tom Delahunty is a Lecturer in the School of Education at UCC and also holds the post of Visiting Research Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in the USA. He has previously held postdoctoral and research positions at UNL and previously was a Lecturer in Education at the University of Limerick. 

Tom's main areas of research interest are in the field of the Learning Sciences, STEM Education and Higher Education. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics such as spatial cognition in STEM learning, problem solving and reasoning, applications of EEG for cognitive monitoring, visual literacy, assessment and teacher education among others.

Tom teaches and contributes to a number of programmes in the school of education such as the Professional Masters in Education (PME), Masters in Education (M.Ed), MA in Guidance Counselling (now ceased) and PhD programmes. He supervises a number of PME and M.Ed students each year and is also involved in the supervision of a number of PhD students. Tom is a member of several school committees and actively contributes on matters for the School of Education.
