Anais Nony

Biography

Dr. Anaïs Nony  

I’m a Lecturer in the Department of French. Before joining UCC, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the South African Research Chair Initiatives in Social Change, University of Fort Hare (2019-2020), A. W. Mellon Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Humanities Research, University of the Western Cape (2018-2019), and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Winthrop-King Institute For Contemporary French and Francophone Studies, Florida State University (2016-2018). I completed my PhD in French and Media Studies at the University of Minnesota (2016). Since 2020, I am chercheure associée with the laboratoire de recherche Histoires des Arts et des Représentations (EA 4414) at the Université Paris-Nanterre.

Research Interests

I’m currently completing a book on video art and video activism in France with Amsterdam University Press. In it, I study what video technology does to psychic and collective beings from an art historiographical perspective. We know media technology is drastically shaping our political and epistemological landscape: I foreground the emergence of video technology as key factors in the reevaluation of culture and politics.

Since 2014, I am editorial board member of La Deleuziana an online journal of philosophy dedicated to aesthetics, politics, and technologies. We translate and publish texts in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Don’t hesitate to be in touch here!
