Dragan Miladinovic

Biography

Dragan Miladinović studied Transcultural Communication, his working languages being German, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and French, Translation Studies and German as a Foreign and Second Language at the University of Vienna. He obtained his master’s degree in German as a Foreign and Second Language with a thesis on the term „Zweitsprache" (second language), analysing possible social consequences for people being labelled by this term.

From 2011 to July 2015, he taugth German as a Second Language at multiple institutions for further education in Austria as well as business-related courses for companies. Since 2015, he has held several workshops of further education/professional development for German teachers in cooperation with Kultur und Sprache, a department of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education.

His research interest lies in critical applied linguistic as well as language teaching. He is currently conducting a PhD project on performative language teaching under the supervision of Prof Manfred Schewe and Prof Susanne Even (Indiana University, USA).

Since joining the Department of German as Austrian Academic Exchange Lecturer (OeAD) in August 2015, Dragan has been involved in organising several conferences and workshops, such as the 3rd International Scenario Forum Conference, (dis)Covering Discourses, the GSAI Annual Conference and Austria Days. In July 2018, he took up the position of a College Language Teacher and currently is the coordinator for First Year Language, the Languages for All-programme as well as for the Department's Evening Class Programme. He is also the departmental webmaster. 

Dragan has been teaching in the undergraduate as well as postgraduate level. In the MA Applied Linguistics, he taught the module "Language Teaching and Post-Colonialism" in the academic year 2016 and 2017. In the MA Translation, he teaches GE6005 and GE6014 translation into German. He has been co-supervising/co-examining theses in MA Applied Linguistics and MA Translation.
