Emer is from Ballyfermot, in Dublin. She received a BA in History and English (1992) and an M.Phil in Medieval Studies (1999) from University College Dublin.  

Research Interests

Medieval Irish history; Viking history; The Ostmen in medieval Ireland and Britain; Identity and ethnicity in the medieval period; Medieval settlement, particularly, medieval urban settlement; Medieval and Early Modern Dublin; The archaeology and art history of the ninth to twelfth centuries; Digital Medieval Studies.

accompany the Dublinia and the Viking world exhibition. DVD produced by The Farm and commissioned by Dublinia, Christ Church Cathedral, the National Museum, Dublin City Council, and the Office of Public Works.
