BIOGRAPHY
Research Interests
I carry out my research in both politics and history. My historical research stems from my own doctoral studies in Irish intellectual history (Conor Cruise O'Brien) and twentieth century Irish political history more generally. Arising from Cruise O'Brien's career, my own research has also entered into several areas he has touched on. As a result my research focus brings several areas of international politics to my teaching in the History department. At present the focus of my writing and publications are on terrorism, US foreign policy and decolonization. These are all areas where I have developed new courses in the History Department.
