Biography:
Before arriving at UCC in 2008, I completed a PhD in modern and contemporary art at University College London (2003-7). My thesis was concerned with issues of temporality and embodiment in drawing after 1940. Prior to this, I studied History of Art as an undergraduate at the University of Nottingham (1997-2000) and at Masters level at UCL (2001-2). During and after the completion of my PhD, I taught in several History of Art and Fine Art departments in the UK, including the University of York, UCL, Camberwell College of Art, and University College for the Creative Arts (Maidstone). As well as publishing academic articles and catalogue essays, I also work as a critic, and have written reviews for numerous magazines, including Art in America and Parachute. I am also founding editor of Enclave Review, a contemporary arts review sheet based in Cork.
