James Cuffe

Biography

Dr. James Cuffe is an anthropologist and lecturer in criminology with a research focus on information & communications technology in everyday life. His interests include techniques of social control, cultural criminology, cyber crime, theory of technology & he holds an area expertise on China.

James has overseen and managed projects with companies such as RPS Ireland (on settlement impacts & socio-cultural integration), Torino Exclusive Brands (intellectual property & cultural appropriation), and, the Department of the Taoiseach (2010 World Expo, Irish Pavilion exhibition).

His PhD research was based on 2 years’ ethnographic fieldwork in urban China culminating in an upcoming monograph with Routledge (2019) on technology in contemporary social life of urban China.

He is the General Editor of the Irish Journal of Anthropology since 2014 and a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute.
