Research Interests

My research in Information Systems Development Methodology Adoption has introduced a new approach to examining the interrelations between the project stakeholders and the ISD methodology. This new approach has highlighted elements that had previously not been identified. This research has been published in journals and leading academic conferences.

My research strategy is based on two streams of research: Information Systems Development and Information Systems Education.

Within the ISD stream, my research is based on and guided by my PhD work on ineffective learning in the adoption of Agile software development methods.

Also, within the ISD stream I have researched areas outside the domain of my PhD and this has allowed a different strategy where I can collaborate with both internal colleagues and external researchers. The research concentrates on IS methodology adoption tools, and currently I am collaborating with others to further a tool I initially developed. Again, this forms part of my strategy where I collaborate with others who have different research backgrounds which can be brought together with my own. This strategy has lead to the funding of a research project which is currently underway in Ireland and internationally.

The second stream of my research strategy is in Information Systems Education. The research concentrates on IS methodology adoption as a learning tool, and I have developed an award winning learning tool in this area. Currently I am collaborating with others to further this tool through funding received.
A second area within the IS Education stream introduces a further element to my research strategy. The area of storage technology in Information Systems Education is a new field, and my strategy is to collaborate with external academics (initially a US based professor) and industry experts. My research strategy is enabled by my own experience from previous jobs.
