Research Profile

Carol Kelleher

Biography

Carol is a Lecturer in Strategic, Consumer and Services Marketing at University College Cork. Following a decade working as a marketing practitioner and consultant, Carol commenced her academic career in Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) in 2004. She subsequently joined UCC in August 2007. Carol was awarded her PhD in Marketing from Cranfield University, United Kingdom in 2013. She also holds two first class honours masters qualifications; an MBS in international marketing from University College Dublin and an MSc in Personal and Executive Coaching from University College Cork, as well as a Higher Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Carol  received the award for UCC Early Career Researcher in 2019. Carol is a member of the Executive Management Committee (EMC) of UCC's Institute of Social Science in the 21st century (ISS21), an interdisciplinary research  that seeks to build, sustain and enhance research on social, economic and cultural issues that will shape 21st century societies.  Within ISS21, she co-leads the ISS21 working group on caregiving with Dr. Jacqui O' Riordan, School of Applied Social  Studies. She is also as a member of a number of EU COST actions and international research collaborations and partnerships focused on her research interests. 

Research Interests

Carol's current research interests, publications and funded projects draw on and contribute to the domains of services and consumer  marketing, transformative consumer and service research. Specifically, Carol's research draws on participatory and interdisciplinary approaches to study collective consumption, family consumption, service experience and design and coaching in a variety of contexts including caregiving, music consumption and education. Carol welcomes PhD applications in the areas outlined and/or in other service or consumer marketing related topics and is happy to co-develop PhD proposals with interested candidates.
