Teaching Interests

I am the Programme Director for the BA (Hons) Economics (through Transformational Learning). This programme was developed and trialled over the period 2008-2014. Its first CAO student intake was in 2014-15.

The aim of this programme is to transform how people understand their world through their study of Economics and to expand their awareness of their own self and scholarly strengths and weaknesses. The emphasis is on the scholarly, professional and personal development of the student to prepare them for work life after college.

The programme has been designed drawing on the transformational learning and adult mind development literature (of Robert Kegan) and the Teaching for Understanding pedagogy (of David Perkins). A developmental environment is created through asking transformative questions, creating disruptive experiences and performances, providing feedback and creating opportunities for reflection and dialogue.

I lecture Macroeconomics, Financial and Monetary Economics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. My current teaching modules are:

EC2009: The Changing Economy: Recessions and Booms - BA (Hons) Single Economics 2

EC2010: The Changing Economy: Money and Monetary Policy - BA (Hons) Single Economics 2
