Biography:
Eoin is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at University College Cork, Republic of Ireland. He has published numerous papers on EU and Irish regional convergence in international journals, such as Regional Studies and the International Regional Science Review. He has written on regional divergence in the Celtic Tiger and in 2003 edited a book, Irish Regional Development: A New Agenda for the Liffey Press. Eoin has more recently conducted research on Irish business innovation. He has published in Spatial Economic Analysis, International Journal for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the ESRI’s Quarterly Economic Commentary, The Journal of the Statistical and Social Inquiry Society of Ireland and has a forthcoming article in Entrepreneurship and Regional Development and Industry and Innovation. Eoin was the elected Chair of the Regional Science Association International, British and Irish Section between 2005 and 2009, the first Irish person to occupy this prestigious position. He has taught for over 20 years, specializing in courses on competitiveness and innovation, with special reference to Ireland. He has undertaken substantial consultancy work for various businesses and policy bodies in the South-West of Ireland and has pioneered executive development workshops on innovation for both the private sector and development agencies.
