She is currently a teaching assistant in the Law of Torts and a researcher for the Child Law Clinic in the Faculty of Law.  Rachel was Editor-in-Chief of the eighth edition (2008/2009) and House Style Editor of the tenth edition (2010/2011) of the Cork Online Law Review.

Research Interests

My primary research interests lie in tort and medical law, with particular focus on regulation in healthcare, patient safety and alternative dispute resolution methods in the medical context. I also engage in research on child law and children's rights through my work with the Child Law Clinic in UCC.

My thesis considers the challenges healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) pose to the healthcare and legal systems, providing a microcosm for examining the reform of the medico-legal framework and regulatory structures in the Irish healthcare system.
