Dr Angela O'Connell is a graduate of UCC (BA 1985; MAWS 2000) and NUI Galway (PhD 2010). She started her career in UCC in 1992 as a tutor in Philosophy, and has since worked in Adult Education, Higher Education Equality, Women’s Studies, and as an independent community development consultant. In recent years she has worked on a number of participatory research projects, both in the community and academia, involving children and young people as service users, rights holders and researchers. She has a particular interest in children's participation, and in the ethics of involving children in research. Her interests  also include gender, family, and sexuality, and she has authored book chapters in these areas in three recent publications. She took up her post as researcher in the Child Law Clinic in May 2013.
