Biography:

Aisling Parkes, a UCC law graduate, (BCL 2000; LLM 2001; PhD 2007) joined the Law Faculty in 2008.  Aisling is the Faculty Student Welfare Officer as well as the Disability Liaison Representative for the Law Department. She is also the EBCL programme Director. 



Aisling's research interests lie in the areas of children's rights and family law as well as disability and the law. Her publications include articles on international children's rights including the rights of children with disabilities in journals such as the ILT and the IJFL, International Family Law as well as the contribution of a chapter to a book entitled Child Protection and Welfare Social Work: Contemporary Themes and Practice Perspectives.  Her forthcoming book, Children and International Human Rights Law: The Right of the Child to be Heard, is being published by Routledge-Cavendish in 2011. She completed a research internship with UNICEF at the Innocenti Research Centre, Florence, Italy in 2003 and has also worked as a researcher on a number of different projects in areas such as Children's Rights and Matrimonial Property Law.
