Biography:
Dr Wills' primary research area is public international law, particularly the law of armed conflict, human rights law, and the law relevant to peacekeeping operations. She obtained her LLB from NUIGalway in 2000 (First Class Honours and Ranked First in her Class); her LLM from Yale in 2001 and her doctorate from Oxford University in 2007. Her book 'Protecting Civilians: The Obligations of Peacekeepers' was published by Oxford University Press in 2009. She spent 2009-2010 as a Fulbright Fellow at Harvard Law School on the Human Rights Program and at New York University Law School on the Hauser Global Fellowship Program. In October 2010 she was given a President's Early Career Achievement Award. She was appointed Co-Director of the Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, (UCC) in November 2010. Prior to her academic career Dr Wills worked in theatre. She has a BA in English from Birmingham University and is a member of both British and Irish Actors' Equity Groups.
