Research Interests

My research focuses on European law and in particular its constitutional dimension, fundamental rights, citizenship and justice and home affairs, including migration and asylum and criminal law. I have a secondary research interest in Irish constitutional law and Irish citizenship, particularly as they relate to the broader international and European constitutional space. I maintain an interest in criminal law theory and political theory, including theories of justice, theories of the state, constitutional pluralism, nationalism and citizenship theory.

I would welcome PhD proposals in EU law, particularly in relation to citizenship, constitutional law, fundamental rights and justice and home affairs.
