Research Interests

My primary area of clinical and research interest is in paediatric anaphylaxis with focus on epidemiologic data, management, and awareness of anaphylaxis among paediatricians and emergency physicians in Ireland. Anaphylaxis remains the most feared consequence for patients with allergy and this fear impacts significantly on their normal daily life. A better estimate of the incidence of anaphylaxis in the paediatric population would enable an evidence based management programme to be initiated for anaphylaxis in Irish children. The need for educational and other support strategies for patients and physicians is supported by the rising prevalence of anaphylaxis, especially in young children.
