Reindolf Anokye

Biography

Dr. Reindolf Anokye is a behavioural scientist with expertise and research interests in various areas, including psychosocial factors that facilitate self-care and preventive behaviours (e.g., cognitive appraisals, emotional regulation, self-efficacy, cultural and social norms), mental health, health communication, preventive/behavioural cardiology. Reindolf recently joined the School of Public Health as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the Standardised Measurement for Childhood Obesity Prevention (SCOPE) project.

His PhD research, supported by the Australian Government Research Training Scholarship, explored the psychological and behavioural responses to cardiovascular screening interventions. Additionally, he conducted a mixed-method process evaluation of a behaviour change intervention targeting dietary behaviours, physical activity, and lifestyle modification. During his PhD, Reindolf achieved several significant milestones, including a Career Development Fellowship and Junior Investigator Diversity Travel Award from the Gerontological Society of America in 2020. He was also selected to participate in the Biomedical Science Careers Program by Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Further accolades in the following years include:

  • Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization - Carol Schutz Travel Award (2021) by the Gerontological Society of America.
  • Early Career Fellowship (2021) by the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.
  • R13 Mentoring & Career Development Fellowship (2021) by the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, and National Institutes of Health.

The primary focus of his research is to identify mechanisms that can potentially influence health-related behaviours and apply this knowledge to develop strategies for preventing cardiovascular disease and other chronic conditions. He is also involved in the design and implementation of psychosocial interventions aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing.
