She has experience of mixed methodologies including online intervention design and has published extensively on the mental health of University students. Her most recent research focusses on the co-production of mental health education for nursing students. This is a European funded project which involves working in partnership with mental health service users (Experts by Experience) throughout the research process (grant application - data collection - data analysis - intervention design). She is currently completing two systematic reviews, the first on the effectiveness of interventions to promote mental health in young people and the second on mental health related digital use by university students. She is also leading research for the Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit to evaluate a pilot study of peer group clinical supervision for nurses and midwives. Aine has recently finished working on a HSE funded project on the clinical leadership needs of nurses and midwives in Ireland as well as a study of the prevalence of depression and anxiety in patients with Cystic Fibrosis. Aine is chair of ENGAGE an Interdisciplinary Clinical Mental Health Research Network. The network aims to promote, generate and disseminate high quality collaborative research to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of people across the lifespan. It is a collaborative venture between the Health Service in Ireland, voluntary sector and UCC that brings together clinicians, service users, carers and researchers from across the Southern region.
