Research Profile

Margaret Curtin

Biography

Margaret Curtin is programme lead for the Integrated Children's and General Nursing programme in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.  She teaches on both undergraduate and post graduate courses and supervises Masters and PhD students.  She is involved in a number of interdisciplinary committees and is the College of Medicine and Health Representative on the UCC Civic and Community Engagement Committee.

Her research interest are in Child Health, Mental Well-being and Development; Childhood Poverty; Community-based approaches to Child Health Inequalities; and Integrated Paediatric Health Care.  She leads the research sub-group for the Lets Grow Together! Infant and Childhood Partnership. 

She previously worked in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, UCC as a researcher with the Irish Focal Point to the European Centre for Monitoring on Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA).  She completed a PhD in Health Service Research as part of the Health Research Board funded PhD Scholars programme.  She holds a MSc(econ) Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics and is a Registered General and Children's Nurse.
