Specialist subjects include theoretical and conceptual developments in the discipline of nursing, cancer care across the health illness trajectory and practice enhancement and quality improvement initiatives.

I provide research supervision to studnets at BSc, MSc and Doctorate/PhD level.

My current research area of interest is symptom management in patients follow treatment for cancer. Specifically, my research is focused on patients’ symptom experiences and self-care strategies following sphincter saving surgery for rectal cancer. This subject transcends two of the major themes in the School's Research Strategy `Chronic Illness Management - children, young people and adults' and the Health and Life Experiences of individuals and their Families through the Cancer Trajectory.  Current research is in the area of genetics relating Knowledge and attitudes towards genetics and genomics among General Nursing Students in Ireland
