My strategy involves focusing on mental health nursing and operationalising my research skills through Developing my research proposal writing skills in order to successfully gain funding. I have been involved in writing the research proposals for the following and have been successful in two out of three: 2007-Literature Review of Post Registration Nursing and Midwifery Education- €15,000 HSE funding awarded 2007 Mapping the Work of Psychiatric Nurses in the Cork Adult Mental Health Day Care Services -€ 5,000 School of Nursing & Midwifery Mapping the Work of Psychiatric Nurses in Adult Mental Health Day Care Services -unsuccessful application for Martha McMenamin Scholarship Developing my field skills through conducting the research project on Mapping the Work of Psychiatric Nurses in Adult Mental Health Day Care Services. – following advice this is now a national study. It is envisaged that this study will contribute to the debate on the future development of community based Mental Health Services drawing on an up to date evidence base. Developing quantitative methodology skills as in b above, by developing a questionnaire, and also by using SPSS to analyse the data to evaluate the Postgraduate Mental Health Nursing Programme This will evaluate the effects and impact of postgraduate education on psychiatric nurses’ clinical practice. |
