Siobhan is a member of the Wound Management Association of Ireland- Southern Branch since 1998. Membership roles and responsibilities range from conference and workshop organisation to teaching and holding the role of secretary to WMAI- Southern Branch.
Within her role in UCC Siobhan is responsible for the development of wound care educational theoretical modules delivered both online and face-to-face at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Siobhan regularly attends wound clinics in hospitals in her role as link-lecture. Siobhan has an established interest in tissue viability research and has published a number of peer-reviewed publications. Currently, Siobhan is co-principal investigator for Aseptic Non-touch Technique funded research study. Siobhan is also a member of a funded research team examining the provision of Baseline Research to inform updates of NCEC National Clinical Guidelines on Healthcare Associated Infections’. Siobhan was selected as the national lead for the Republic of Ireland lead in an international survey being conducted by EWMA Teacher Network. This survey is the first part of a wider European research project into Skin Health and Wound Management education for undergraduate nurses that is being undertaken by members of the European Wound Management Association Teacher Network (http://ewma.org/english/education/teacher-network.html). Siobhan has conducted and presented research both at national or international conferences and supervises MSc students.
From an administrative perspective Siobhan leads and manages undergraduate and postgraduate modules and examination boards. She also participate regularly in and develop external networks, for example contribute to student recruitment, oversee student placements, market the institution and facilitate school Alumni work.
