Paul Brady is a lecturer and specialist oral surgeon at Cork University Dental School and Hospital. After spending over 15years running his own successful general dental practice he undertook further training in conscious sedation and Impalntology before moving into full time academia. In 2011, he took up a clinical fellow post at Cork University Dental School and Hospital. He completed specialist training in oral surgery in 2016 and was awarded his FFD from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. As well as surgical training, Dr Brady undertook research training and was awarded a PhD from UCC in 2017. The doctoral work involved a clinical trial investigating the use of capnography monitoring for conscious sedation. He has also been actively involved in research on dental anxiety and implantology. He was awarded a Health Research Board research training fellowship in 2013 as well as a commercial investigator grant from Covidien to support his research. During 2015 and 2016, he spent time as a visiting scholar in the departments of Dental Anesthesiology and Oral & Maxillofacial surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. He has presented his research findings at conferences both nationally and internationally. Dr Brady is actively involved in teaching dental undergraduates, postgraduates and other dental healthcare professionals as well as providing CPD for general dentists. He is a BLS instructor. He has a Postgraduate Diploma in teaching and learning in higher education which was awarded by UCC in 2014. He was awarded a Masters degree in conscious sedation from the University of Newcastle in 2012. He regularly provides oral surgery treatment under general anaesthetic, conscious sedation and local anaesthetic. Areas of particular clinical interest are the removal of wisdom teeth, oral surgery for orthodontics, implantology, bone grafting and oral surgery for medically compromised patients. Research Interests
My research interests include dental anxiety and respiratory monitoring during conscious sedation. My PhD research involved monitoring patient respiration during intravenous conscious sedation using capnography.Research Grants

- Basic Life Support Instructor delivering BLS courses to undergraduates, postgraduates, and CPD for dental professionals (nurses, dentists and hygienists).
- Supervising and evaluating dental hygienists administering local anaesthetic
