Biography
Originally trained as a Speech and Language Therapist, in The Dublin College of Speech and Language Therapy (TCD) and worked clinically in Cork and the UK. Later retrained as a Childbirth Educator with Cuidiu, The Irish Childbirth Trust, working with women, their partners and new babies, in group settings, during the Ante and Post Natal periods. Having completed a Higher Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and a M.A. in Integrative Psychotherapy, has worked in Private Practice, as an Integrative Psychotherapist, since 2001,and teaching on the BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy in the CIT, since 2005. Joined the Department of Speech and Language Therapy, UCC, as a Lecturer in Mental Health in 2015, having worked there as a Problem Based Learning Tutor and Practice Educator, ongoing since 2005.
Research Interests
Main research interests lie in the area of Infant Mental Health and the role of Speech and Language Therapy in Attunement and Pre Verbal Language Development.
