Biography:

Orla Ni Dhubhghaill is a Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry in UCC.  She obtained both B.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from U.C.C. She spent six years as a Research Fellow at Birkbeck College, University of London, with Prof. P.J. Sadler, working on projects in the area of metal-based anticancer agents, followed by two years at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, with Prof. A.E. Merbach, where she worked as a post-doctoral research associate on a project to investigate the relaxation properties of lanthanides used as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agents. In October 1994 she returned to UCC as a temporary lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at UCC and was appointed to a permanent  Lectureship in October 1996.
