James Murphy

Biography
Dr.
Murphy is a B.E (Civil) graduate and holds a M.(Eng.)
Sc. degree in Civil/Offshore Engineering and a Ph.D. in
Coastal/Geotechnical Engineering. He is a senior
lecturer for Offshore Renewable Energy and Harbour and Coastal Engineering and offshore renewable energy in
the School of Engineering, University College Cork.
He participates in a large number of EU funded projects and is/was co-ordinator of FP7 LEANWIND, H2020 MaRINET2, H2020 MARINERG-i, H2020 TAOIDE and HE MaRINERGi PP which are all related to advancing the offshore renewable energy (ORE) sector.
Jimmy is a CO-PI in the SFI MaREI Centre as well as lead of the Lir National Ocean Test Facility (Lir NOTF) and the ORE Technology group within UCC/MaREI which consists of up to 25 staff and post graduate students.
He supervises PhD and Masters students and has a number of publications in the areas of coastal engineering and offshore renewable energy.
