Biography

Kevin grew up on the East Coast of England. After completing his BA (honours) in Architecture at Leicester Polytechnic School of Architecture he spent ten years in London, working for Architectural and Interior design firms on commercial and housing projects, and completed his RIBA part II and III at the Polytechnic of North London School of Architecture.

He spent three years in California as an Architect involved in higher education and bookstore projects around the Bay Area. He also directed Architectural services for a firm specializing in AutoCAD, supervising drawing production contracts with Gensler and interior design firms in San Francisco.

He has been living in Cork since 1997, working initially as a Senior Architect, taking a lead role in all aspects of a number of commercial and education projects. After three years of part-time tuition he gained a full time lecturing post at Cork Institute of Technology in 2002. He is currently the Year 2 Design Studio coordinator on the BSc Architecture course at CCAE and teaches on the BSc Interior Architecture course in C.I.T.

In May 2015 Kevin registered as a PhD student with UCC

Research Interests

My interest is in enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning of inclusive (universal) design through all stages of the design process. Running concurrent with this is an aim to develop a multi-disciplinary architectural research group focussed on inclusive design within Cork City, drawing on links from educational centres and related disciplines, local authority and the wider community
