Biography

Alexandra is Research Fellow in MaREI, in University College Cork and the Vice-Chair of the COST Action SHiFT.  She has a PhD (University of Galway, 2014) in geography and her research work has concentrated in diverse areas including the societal and policy aspects of climate action, grassroots disaster and flood management and community-led energy transitions. Her current research work focuses on climate justice in urban environment with JustCities Hub (EPA 2024-2028) with a focus in Cork and Belfast, and  grassroots climate action and promoting the role of Social Sciences and energy, it her work also include transdisciplinary work with the ENPOWER Project to support energy communities and collaboratively develop data-driven services in this context (Horizon 20232026).  Alexandra is also a member of the International Energy Agency Users-TCP Programme on 'EnPowering All" Task Force (IEA-Users-TCP).
