Research Profile

Biography

Clíodhna Murphy is a first class honours graduate of Trinity College Dublin (LLB (Lingua Franca) 2004; MLitt (Research) 2006; PhD). In 2002-2003, she studied French law for a year in the University of Poitiers. Clíodhna's MLitt thesis explored the area of complementary protection. In 2011, she was awarded her doctoral thesis, having obtained a Trinity College Ussher Fellowship and a Trinity College Travel Grant to fund the research. Her doctoral thesis is entitled “Integration and the Law: The Irish Experience in its European and International Context”. Clíodhna completed a short research visit for the purposes of the thesis in the University of Bordeaux in 2008. 

In 2012, Clíodhna joined the Law Department in UCC to work as a post-doctoral fellow on a research project led by Siobhán Mullally, entitled “Migrant Domestic Workers and EU Migration Law Regimes; exploring the limits of human rights protections”. Siobhán was awarded an IRCHSS Senior Fellowship in 2011 for this 15-month project.

Clíodhna is a qualified solicitor, and completed her training in McCann FitzGerald solicitors in 2011.

Clíodhna has lectured in Trinity College Dublin and has also taught classes on the China-EU School of Law Masters Programme (in the University of Beijing) and in Sciences Po, Paris.  

Clíodhna’s research interests include Migration Law, Public International Law, Human Rights Law, Constitutional and Comparative Law. She has published articles and presented conference papers on these topics.
