Research Profile

Ranajit Sai

Biography

Dr. Ranajit Sai is a Senior Researcher at Micro and Nano Systems (MNS) Centre in Tyndall National Institute, Ireland. He is currently the technical lead of the Integrated Magnetics Research group overseeing multiple research projects funded by Semiconductor Research Corp. (SRC), Intel, Applied Materials, NXP, Taiyo Yuden among others.

Ranajit received his PhD in an interdisciplinary program – Nanoengineering for Integrated Systems from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), India in 2014. For his dissertation, he designed and developed the best-in-class magnetic-core GHz inductors for which a US patent has been granted. Following his graduation, Ranajit worked ~4 years (04/2014 - 11/2017) in Japan as an Asst. Professor in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering at Tohoku University, Sendai, and another 4 years (02/2018 - 04/2022) in India as a Visiting Faculty in the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) at IISc, Bengaluru.

Ranajit's research and publications have focused on the confluence of microelectronics and material science. It encompasses the design, fabrication, and on-silicon integration of miniaturized and efficient passive devices for power/RF magnetics, EMI/EMC, and sensor applications. His research is driven by probing novel physical phenomena, tailoring material properties, and solving technological bottlenecks through innovation in device design and integration. To date, Ranajit has co-authored 22 journal articles, 7 conference proceedings, and 4 patents. He has presented his research work in more than 30 conferences of international repute that includes the flagship conferences organized by IEEE Magnetics Society and American Institute of Physics. He also has chaired various technical sessions, delivered invited talks, and served as a program committee member in those conferences.
